Humanism for the purposes of this site is about the innate desire humans have for connection. That desire, or rather, innate instinct, could be linked to why people join churches, groups, movements, etc. The bottom line is Humane-ism is specifically about NOT connecting through hate. The only thing worse than not even bothering to look for common ground is finding it only to fight over it. The simplest thing to start with is that we're all human. Leave off the other outwardly imposed or self-imposed titles and labels and proper or preferred pronouns and just keep it simple, we're humans.
We can at least agree that we're humans right? That we have THAT in common? If you cannot do that much without it being problematic for you, move on, seriously, you will NOT be pleased.

One of the main goals of a Human, by virtue of the title, should be to be humane. Make it a practice to behave in a humane fashion toward your fellow humans. Perhaps you can set a good example out there in the world or do it as a personal challenge, try to be better than you were yesterday. Maybe you want to change the world, just bear in mind, YOU are the face of your movement, what's it look like? I've seen everything from pretentious, entitled victim-bullies to whiny "love warriors" to bitter, cherry-picked stat spewers with selective listening problems.
It's easy to be a human, you just have to be born. The real challenge for people is to be HUMANE, it requires balance first and foremost as well as acceptance, forgiveness, an open mind and a thick skin. If you have those, DIG IN....
