Dear LGBTBBQ...Dear Alphabet People:
Look, right off the bat, the subtitle is in fun so untwist yourself, kids. With almost 100 varied pronouns there's a pretty good chance all the letters of the alphabet are present. A person, no matter what they identify as, gets to decide what percentage they want to be pissed about a thing in the same way a person can choose their gender these days, and also whether or not they do something productive about it.
I've met a lot of transgender folks in my travels. To be honest, not many of this newer wave of them have been a shining example of the acceptance they claim to want for themselves. Seems unless you immediately validate them by agreeing with everything they say, even if it’s ridiculous, you are somehow traumatizing or triggering to them.
No other group I've come across carries a fuller deck of victim cards than the trans part of the alphabet movement. They happily lay claim to all the sad, sad stories and "Poor me, so very abused and mentally traumatized..." while they simultaneously like to act as though they know everything and are the perfect person to give you advice even though they fall apart if you forget which pronoun they like for Tuesdays. They've taken a perfectly good movement and crapped all over it.
They say they aren't heard but they have their people visiting the White House and meeting with whatever vapid president happens to be there at the time. They have millions of people paying attention to them online. Policies and laws are being changed to honor them, their agenda is being pushed in schools and colleges, language is being changed for them, biological people are being erased for them, and they still cry that they aren't being heard and are marginalized.
It's the same as I've said since I was young and told to respect elders who were abusive to me, I respect people who are respectable. If you want to be treated with respect, be a person worthy of respect. It really is that simple. Unfortunately, in current culture, it's getting to the point where it's as ridiculous as people not getting along because they each have a different favorite food, and why doesn't the beet have more of a voice?!
OK, untwist your knickers. If you’re hackles are up, you are probably guilty of partaking in some of the shit I just wrote. If you aren’t, if instead you are thinking twice about your intent and how you are representing your movement, then good for you. If you know people like the ones described above but you are enough of a realist to read this and understand it, help them. Now, get out there and lets ALL do better.
